Alcatel 8790 Application Server The Alcatel 8790 Application Server (AS)/SCP works in both SS7-based Time Division Multiplex (TDM) Intelligent Networks and Internet Protocol (IP)-based Next Generation Networks (NGN). In TDM-based Intelligent Networks, the 8790 AS interfaces with Service Switching Points (SSPs) and Alcatel's 8686 Specialized Resource Point (SRP) via SS7 links and supports a variety of IN message protocols. Applications for the 8790 AS are developed on Alcatel's 8792 Service Creation Environment (SCE). Alcatel's 8793 Service Management System (SMS) provides database management functions for service databases on the 8790 AS.
